A post by Sharla Lee Shults on her blog, Catnip of Life got me thinking. To God, we are just like the Glass Winged Butterfly – completely transparent. We might think we can hide things from God, but the truth is, we can’t.
There is not one thought, one action, one desire, or one word we might speak that God does not know about. Not only does He know about each of them, He knows about them before they happen. He knows about it before we think it, do it, desire it or say it. If that doesn’t worry you, it should.
The Bible is full of evidence of God’s omniscience.
Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Hebrews 4:13 (NIV)
The LORD knows the thoughts of man, that they are a mere breath. Psalm 94:11 (NASB)
You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. Psalm 139:2 (NIV)
You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. Psalm 139:16 (NLT)
Would not God find this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart. Psalm 44:21 (NASB)
All my longings lie open before you, Lord; my sighing is not hidden from you. Psalm 38:9 (NIV)
That is more than enough to make me watch my P’s and Q’s.
But praise God, we have a Saviour who is willing to forgive every wrong thought, selfish desire, thoughtless action, or unkind word we are guilty of.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 (NASB)

Wonderfully put, Lyn. We do have an awesome, all knowing God who loves and forgives unconditionally when we come to Him. A great reminder.
South Africa’s most beloved evangelist, Angus Buchan, once wrote (and I’m paraphrasing from memory here), “Imagine if your every thought and feeling was projected onto a giant screen in a city, where everyone could see exactly what you were feeling and thinking. Would you be ashamed of your thoughts? Remember that God can see your thoughts without the giant screen. Nothing is hidden from Him.”
You put it just as well, Lyn. And that photo of the transparent butterfly is stunning! Thanks for the post.

Thank you for the mention of catnipoflife! This is a wonderful article and so heart warming to know my blogpost may have been what inspired this writing. I linked your article to the original post and Tweeted.
It did indeed inspire me to write it. In fact, it was like a bolt out of the blue so to speak
